Asun Soriano, CEO of ATREVIA, has been the person in charge to moderate the roundtable on sustainable economy at the Forbes Summit Women held at the Auditorium 200 of the Queen Sofía Museum in Madrid.
It’s been an encounter which gathered up to 20 female personalities from different sectors, to talk about the economic, social, and environmental perspectives to the future, which coincide the date established by the EU, year 2020, to achieve its goals.
The roundtable led by Asun Soriano had the attendance of Maria Jose Alvarez, President of Eulen Group, María Eugenia Girón, Professor at IE Business School and María José Rovira, a sustainability specialized lawyer. All of them have agreed on the need to change the current paradigm and to act in order to guarantee sustainable practices.
María José Rovira started talking about the progress and the commitment acquired by the international community to ensure natural resources for the future generations. María Eugenia Girón on her part, hit upon the unsustainability of current consumption patterns. Concerning on the fashion industry in particular, “we the western citizens throw away 40 kg of cloth every year”, she assures. The Circular economy, or said in another way, convert our wastes into new commodities to start the process is the only alternative solution.
María José Álvarez has emphasized the enormous effort that enterprises have committed to change their policies and becoming sustainable, what’s more, she emphasized the added responsibility of big corporations to encourage the change: demand their providers to meet the dame obligations. Aun Soriano, wished to finish pointing out that the enterprises’ efforts should be communicated to society in order to be appreciated when the public consume a product or a service.
The seminar was launched with the introduction of the Minister of Employment and Social Security, Fátima Bañez, who underscored the need to bet on the talent and diversity as “the authentic asset to be competitive”. Consecutively, more roundtables were held on the remediation of Marca España, the Banking world in 2020 and the development of new technologies and big data.
